Links for radio, online zines and
magazines:
- Aural
Innovations: One of
the most complete and best sites around that covers space rock,
progressive, psych, and everything in between, old and new.
Features reviews, news, articles & interviews, webcasting,
etc.
- Don
Campau/Lonely Whistle/No Pigeonholes: home for this very cool
guitarist/improvisor/composer, his independent music catalog
Lonely Whistle, and his long-running radio show, No Pigeonholes,
which features independent artists. (He was giving airplay to
unsigned PB and my solo stuff back in the '80s.)
- Expose': great magazine covering prog, fusion,
and related genres. Reviews, interviews, articles &
news.
- Gagliarchives: long running prog show serving south
New Jersey, Philadelphia, also features streaming audio.
- Ghostland.com: great progressive site, with very
useful links.
- Bret
Hart: prolific
improviser, builder of unique instruments, and CEO of a small
label specializing in unusual music. Also runs the GuitArt
webzine.
- Hellride : formerly known as Custom Heavy, this
is a great site covering the underground heavy music scene. If you
like your sounds hard, dark, and heavy go here!
- The
Improvisor: "The
international website on free improvisation, dedicated to the
music of the moment... A resource for musicians and composers of
free improvisation..."
- pOoTer's
pSycheDelic shAcK : Self described: "“A dark corner of the
void dedicated to....Psychedelia, Acid Rock, Progressive Rock,
Garage Bands, 60’s Punk, Freakbeat, wig-lifting rarities, books,
posters, lightshows and other STRANGE items related to pSycheDelic
music.........” Lots of reviews, and they accept reviews from
outside writers on psych (and psych related) albums! The main page
is probably the most convincing black light look I've seen
anywhere on the web.
- Progression
Magazine: superb
magazine covering progressive music and related areas.
- Progressiveworld.net: large and very active progressive
site, with reviews, news, interviews and more.
- Weirdsville: very cool Internet music site. Uses RA
files and a random generator to give you 10 tracks when you open
up their player. Expect to find everything from surf to psych to
Sun Ra to Metal Machine Music popping up. Currently has over 2000
tracks on tap.
- Zzaj
Productions: run by
improvisational musician/supporter Rotcod ZZaj, this site has
reviews, music and a catalog of available releases.
